Network Engineering Community News – FastNetMon

Welcome to our Network Engineering Community News!

Hi from FastNetMon! November came with plenty to talk about. We’ve got a standout guest post from one of the most recognisable voices in BGP, a very cool webinar to help you shape your DDoS strategy for 2026, an early look at a product update we’re very excited about, and—as always—fresh insights from the DDoS battlefield. On automating BGP Blackhole for DDoS mitigation: BGP Brian explains

We’re excited to welcome BGP Brian (Brian Wilson) as a guest contributor for FastNetMon! In this article, Brian explains how BGP blackholing (RTBH) can be used to stop DDoS attacks before they reach your network—and how FastNetMon can automate the process for faster, more consistent mitigation.

Brian runs a BGP Black Belt training community, and is very active on LinkedIn, sharing insights on BGP and network engineering – you can follow Brian here.

Join our joint webinar with StormWall

On December 9 at 11:00 AM CET, FastNetMon and StormWall host a joint webinar to walk you through what we learned from DDoS attacks in 2025, and what teams should prepare for in 2026. Virgil Truica from our team will be presenting.

We’ll cover how attack patterns are changing, why multi-vector attacks are becoming more common, and when to use Always-On vs On-Demand mitigation. We’ll also explain how FastNetMon and StormWall work together – from early detection to effective mitigation.

If you want a clear, practical view of how to strengthen your DDoS defences for next year, join us in the webinar!

Sneak peek to our new web interface! 👀

FastNetMon has always been a command-line tool for monitoring network traffic and detecting attacks. Soon, it will also include a web interface!

We’re genuinely excited about this update. The new UI gives you real-time dashboards, traffic reports, hostgroup overviews, and clear visibility into ongoing attacks. Same reliable functionality, now easier to visualise.

Launch is coming soon, stay tuned!

Event Recap: LINX125

Last week we attended LINX125 in London as an Ascending Member. It was a great chance to meet the community, see how LINX operates, and hear talks on network resilience, peering strategies, AI data centres, and even the history of BT Tower. Big thanks to LINX and all the speakers for making it such an interesting couple of days. You can read our event recap in the blog!
