Fastnetmon at HKNOG13

How was it at HKNOG13? Here’s our conference recap

Last Friday, November 1st 2024, we had the absolute pleasure of attending the annual Hong Kong Network Operators Group conference #13 – AKA HKNOG13. Flying in all the way from UK on a short notice was bt of a task, but it was more than worth it!

The event brought together all the cool kids from the region and beyond to discuss the latest trends and developments in the networking field. The organisers did a fantastic job setting up just the right amount of presentations, networking, and food to keep the 300+ attendees happy and engaged.

Our very own Pavel Odintsov took the stage to present on “BGP Flow Spec for DDoS mitigation”. The talk was well-received, with a couple of good technical questions, shedding light on the importance of BGP protocol for DDoS mitigation. You can get the presentation slides below!

The conference also featured other notable presentations. Zen Chuan NG from APNIC gave a great talk on DASH, while Rachel Lee from Cyberport and Peter Pin from BSO engaged in a fireside chat discussing the evolution from Web2.0 to Web3.0 and the new opportunities it presents. Adam Wong from A-field Tech Limited emphasized the importance of low latency networks in Web 3.0, and Donald Lam from Ciena shared the latest trends in optical industrial technology, specifically for submarine cables.

One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity to meet some of our customers and partners in the APAC region. It was a nice treat to meet in person some of the people we’ve only known through email!

Overall, HKNOG13 was a successful event, full of knowledge exchange and networking opportunities. We are particularly keen to continue expanding towards the region, and making more contacts in the network security field in APAC.

Huge thank you to the organisers – we look forward to participating in future editions and continuing to contribute to the conversation.
