FastNetMon joined the Romanian Internet and telecommunications community in Bucharest for RITE 2026 (Romanian Internet Technologies Event), held on October 27 at the Sheraton Hotel.
Our Bucharest-based colleague Virgil Truica, Head of Sales at FastNetMon, took to the stage to discuss modern AI used by Cyber Criminals in DDoS Botnets Today and the evolving threats facing network operators.
This year's event focused on “The Trustworthy Internet: Resilience, Identity and Intelligent Infrastructure”, bringing together network operators, security specialists, technology providers and industry experts for a full day of discussions about the future of Internet infrastructure.
DDoS Botnets Today
Virgil's presentation explored how modern DDoS botnets are evolving, the role of AI in cybercriminal activity, and the challenges of detecting and mitigating increasingly sophisticated attacks.
With attack techniques constantly changing, understanding the infrastructure and technologies behind today's botnets is an important part of building effective DDoS defences.
For anyone who missed Virgil's session, you can watch the presentation below.
Building a more trustworthy Internet
AI and cybersecurity were recurring themes throughout the RITE 2026 programme.
The agenda covered AI-powered network infrastructure, Internet resilience, identity protection, and the security challenges introduced by emerging technologies.
Among the technical highlights were discussions about securing large language models, AI-assisted software development, Encrypted Client Hello (ECH), Zero Trust architectures and the growing importance of securing autonomous AI agents.
It was an interesting mix of topics, reflecting how quickly AI is changing both the way Internet infrastructure is built and the threats operators need to prepare for.
Thank you, RITE!
A big thank you to ANISP and the RITE organisers, speakers, sponsors and everyone who helped make this year's event possible.
And, of course, thank you to everyone who attended Virgil's presentation, stopped by for a conversation or shared their experiences around DDoS protection, network visibility and infrastructure security.
Events like RITE are a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with the people building and protecting the Internet, and it's always great to be part of these discussions in Romania.
Until next time — here's to more good conversations, stronger networks and a more resilient Internet!
