Datacenter Forum Romania 2025 Event Recap FastNetMon

FastNetMon at DataCenter Forum Romania 2025: AI, Sustainability, and Growth in Southeastern Europe

Last week, FastNetMon had the pleasure of attending the DataCenter Forum Romania 2025, held at the Face Convention Center in Bucharest. The event brought together over 600 data centre professionals, technology leaders, and policymakers to explore the future of digital infrastructure in Southeastern Europe.

We were thrilled to meet several of our regional partners and customers during the day and engage in meaningful conversations about the challenges and opportunities shaping the market.

Key Learnings & Takeaways from the Forum

1. AI Is Reshaping Data Centre Infrastructure
A clear theme throughout the event was the rapid rise of AI-driven workloads. Discussions focused on the transition from traditional setups to AI-optimised, high-density environments, with technologies like liquid cooling becoming increasingly relevant.

2. Sustainability Is Not Optional
With Romania facing a critical shortage in data centre capacity—only 5% vacancy in space and power—sustainability and energy efficiency were front and centre. Thought leaders shared strategies for reducing environmental impact, including renewables integration, advanced battery solutions, and paths to energy autonomy.

3. Compliance as a Competitive Advantage
Regulatory insight sessions led by the Uptime Institute and European Commission emphasised how proactive compliance with evolving EU regulations can drive both efficiency and competitiveness.

4. Romania’s Growing Role in Regional Infrastructure
Despite current capacity limitations, Romania is positioned as a compelling location for future investments. With low construction costs, renewable energy availability, and a strategic geographic position, the country is emerging as a key hub for digital infrastructure in Southeastern Europe.

Looking Ahead
At FastNetMon, we continue to stay close to developments across the region, especially where network visibility, security, and infrastructure resilience intersect. It was inspiring to witness the energy and ambition in Romania’s digital infrastructure community, and we’re excited to support our partners as this market evolves.
